About the project | Grundtvig Learning Partnership Project entitled „Woman in the modern world” is organized within the frameworks of the European Union Lifelong Learning Programme, subprogramme Grundtvig.
Implementation period: 1 August 2010 – 31 July 2012
Aims of the project:
The key aim of the project is to support comprehensive development of contemporary women, increase awareness and knowledge of any problems that may concern women regarding their roles in private and public life. The project aims also at increasing the need to educate women and men about the influence of education, society and media on woman’s life path and on perception and attribution of gender roles. Other objectives encompass:
- fighting with discrimination, prejudices, stereotypes and other gender-related difficulties faced by women,
- supporting the idea of equal opportunities,
- increasing self-confidence, motivation and activation of women in difficult private and public situations,
- increasing men’s awareness and involvement in changing stereotypes, fighting with prejudices, motivating and activating women in difficult situations.
Target group
Target group encompasses mostly women on different educational, vocational and social level who experienced difficult situations at home, work, social environment. Although the project is aimed mainly at women, men will also be involved. Taking them into account will enable to analyze the subject more thoroughly and see that in similar work, home and society-related situations different mechanisms may be activated depending on the sex.
Themes
The project will be divided into four main parts focusing on the following subjects:
- Role and education of women in the modern world (mechanisms that shape roles performed by women and men; biological sex vs. gender; stereotypes in bringing up and education)
- Woman in private world (distribution of household duties; stereotypes; influence of education, society and media; difficult private situations; personal development, motivation, extra-vocational and creative activities)
- Woman in public world (gender stereotypes, prejudices in media message; social pressure; EU law: equal opportunities, gender discrimination in public life/media/politics/law/labour market; woman of success; art of self-presentation/advertisement)
- Reconciling private and public life, managing balance between home and work
